Petworth neighbors to open "Merry Pin" art & craft store

For those who love to craft and create artwork, there aren’t many options beyond the big retailers like Michael’s in our general area, and certainly nothing in Ward 4 and Petworth. That’s why the “Three Crafty Ms” — Megan Flynn, Madeleine Odendahl and Michele Molotsky, the three founders behind what will be called “Merry Pin” — decided to start a new art and crafts store in Ward 4.

A flower shop and craft classroom is coming to Upshur Street

A flower and plant shop called She Loves Me will be opening at 808 Upshur Street in the next few months. The shop will sell flowers, plants and gifts, and will offer craft classes upstairs. The space had housed Philip's Shoe Repair for 51 years before the owners retired and the shop closed last November.

After almost six decades on Upshur Street, Philip’s Shoe Repair is closing its doors as the owner, Philip Calabro is retiring. The last day for the store is November 18th. The DC Mayor and Ward 4 Councilmember will presenting Philip with a certificate of appreciation on the 11th.
