Yowza, the nice weather comes and so does a weekend full of activities. Here's a rundown of what you can do this weekend (hint, there's Stormtroopers involved!). Here's hoping today's rain goes away!

Friday, May 5th:

First Friday on Upshur Street. 6-8pm. The once-a-month arts and music exhibits at Upshur Street businesses starts off the weekend with music and theater, along with discounts at retail and restaurants. (Read the article.)

Saturday, May 6th:

Petworth Community Market (9th & Upshur St) opens at 9am with fresh fruit and vegetables, music and more. Excited for the new season!

Spring Fling at the Old Soldier's Home (340 Rock Creek Church Road NW).

Sunday, May 7th:

Clean up Grant Circle at 10am. Pickup trash and tackle some of the weeds coming up in the central flower beds.  Gloves and tools will be provided.

Bluegrass and Bourbon at Lincoln's Cottage, starts at 2pm. (Sold out!) 

  • Enjoy live bluegrass music by local musicians By & By and Justin Trawick and The Common Good, play lawn games, and don't forget to sign up for a special preservation tour.
  • Free Architecture & Preservation Tours - offered on a first-come, first-serve basis at 2:15, 3, 3:45, and 4:30. Sign-up for the exclusive tour with Senior Preservationist Jeff Larry will be at the event info table. Each tour is limited to 25 people.
