Kennedy Street Festival brings food, music and more to the neighborhood

Food trucks, music, tons of vendors, schools, government agencies and more will be waiting for you along Kennedy Street between 3rd St and 8th St NW on Saturday, June 24th from 11-3pm at the Kennedy Street Festival.

Last year’s Kennedy Street Festival was a big success, and this year’s festival should be even bigger, with more things to do, see, eat, listen to and enjoy! A special theme this year is “Around the World,” with a children’s activity throughout the festival that involves kids making their own passports and collecting stamps from various parts of the world (aka, vendor tables). It’s a fun way to explore the festival with the family.

The festival a great opportunity to engage with neighbors, check out local Kennedy Street businesses who are opening their doors (and sidewalks) to welcome a crowd to the area. The festival will feature specials at local businesses along the street, local DC artists and artisans vending their creations, booths from local non-profits and DC agencies, local musical talent and entertainment, great food, and community art activities.

“I really enjoyed myself last year,” said Lois Cooper, owner of Tranquil Treasures. “I am looking forward to participating again this year.”

The festival offers a robust list of sponsors, vendors and entertainers. Get there early and stroll down the sidewalks to enjoy the variety of tents, activities and vendors. Only the sidewalks are being used, the street will remain open to traffic.

The Kennedy Street Festival is organized by KSDC, a new 501(C)3 whose vision is for a Kennedy Street that is welcoming and bright with long-term public and private investments that provide the community with a vibrant work-live-play environment while maintaining and celebrating our diversity and lifestyle.
