If you can, now's a good time to donate food to those in need (anytime is a good time, actually).

The Petworth Community Market (and other local businesses) are accepting non-perishable Thanksgiving-related food donations at their food donation bin this Saturday, November 14th. All proceeds support the Mary’s Center 2015 Thanksgiving Food Drive.

Acceptable items include non-perishables such as canned vegetables and fruit, cranberry sauce, yams, stuffing mix and pumpkin pie filling. Grocery store gift cards are also accepted and will be used to purchase turkeys. See a list of desired items on a PDF.

After this weekend and through November 20th, you can find donation bins at Lighthouse Yoga, Annie's Hardware, Greenline Real Estate, Willow Fashion and the Mary's Center HQ at 3912 Georgia Avenue.

Remember that the Petworth Community Market is open each Saturday from 9AM – 1PM (until November 21st) on 9th street NW between Taylor and Upshur at Georgia Ave.
