A day in Petworth: photos from the Farmer's Market & Powell Spring Carnival

It was another busy Saturday in Petworth, starting with the Powell Elementary Spring Carnival, held on the football field at Roosevelt High School. The weather forecast threatened grey cloudy skies, and instead we had a beautiful day for the community to have fun. The Parent/Teacher soccer game was neck-and-neck, with some great plays by both sides. Ultimately the teachers prevailed (probably because the parents let them).  ;)

The Petworth Farmers Market seemed even busier today than their first day of the season last weekend. It was crowded with customers and vendors, more this year than ever before. From new local businesses like Bye Bye Blemishes, Ruby Scoops and Undone Chocolate, to Market favorites like Black Pug Smokehouse, Meat Crafters, No. 1 Sons and Kuhn Orchards. And that's only a partial list of all the vendors out there selling crafts like Carol Herwig (with her excellent handmade pottery) to Black Pearl Tarts, which brings really elegant and delicious-looking treats to Petworth. Plus, another great band called "MarketBand" entertained everyone with their tunes. If you missed this week, then be sure to go next Saturday.

Enjoy the pics!
