ETA Cafe is now Petworth's newest coffee shop

ETA Cafe on the corner of 9th & Varnum Streets NW

by Yuliya Panfil

Last week a new coffee shop called ETA Cafe quietly opened its doors at the corner of 9th and Varnum Streets at 4239 9th Street NW, next to El Toragoz restaurant. The cafe had been under construction for several months as owners renovated the space formerly housing the 777 Market convenience store.

The new shop serves coffee, tea (including delicious home-brewed chai), juices and desserts, but management says the cafe will soon begin selling smoothies, breakfast food and other goodies.

Inside ETA Cafe

According to management, ETA is in “soft open” mode—they had planned to delay opening until the full menu and space plan were ready, but decided to crack their doors open as they put the finishing touches on the business and were overwhelmed by community interest and response. Expect to see more changes coming for the Cafe.

ETA is now open from 7am on weekdays, and will open a bit later — either at 8 or 9am — on weekends.

Look out for a longer profile in the coming weeks!
